Beer-Ocracy Awareness at Old Sugar Distillery

Does Wisconsin need additional regulation of its flourishing craft beverage industry?

Someone in the state legislature seems to think so. A proposal has been leaked that would create a whole new department named The Office of Alcohol Beverages Enforcement, which would also regulate distilleries and wineries. The new regulator would be funded with existing fine and fee revenues, to the tune of $2 million. Unknown legislators have attempted to sneak this onto the budget.

Believing that the success of Wisconsin craft brewers, wineries, and distillers are key to the health of Wisconsin’s economy and vital to preserving its culture, the Libertarian Party of Dane County and the craft brewing industry are taking a s...tand against these regulations, and are exploring intelligent reforms that would benefit small producers.

Come on down to Old Sugar Distillery to show your support! We will be there with information about these regulations and how you can get involved with saving our beer and wine! If nothing else, the more people who stop in to buy a beer during "Beer-Ocracy" time, the more we can raise to support lobbying efforts to save small businesses!

This will be the first of a series of events held all across Madison this month leading up one all-encompassing event on July 29th at Quivey's Grove where you can drink, speak to legislators, play games, and learn about the craft alcohol industry in Wisconsin (tickets for the final event available soon, so keep your eyes open!)
