The State of Wisconsin holds elections for local non-partisan offices in the Spring, city councils, village and town boards, some county elected offices, and school boards.

Why should LPWI members and supporters run for local office?

To fill most of the Libertarian Party’s keys to success, we need more members and more of those members elected to local offices. Furthermore, local campaigns have several advantages for Party members and supporters.

  1. They generally do not require a lot of money to run, or only a proportionately smaller amount for the office sought.
  2. They generally can avoid using partisan labels; and even among personalities,
  3. The races can stick to issues and policies as much as possible.
  4. They usually only require the candidate and not staff for the more rural-area positions.
  5. The time to do the job of serving does not amount to another full-time job. And finally and most importantly
  6. These positions make absolute and real, practical differences in people's lives and in the way things are approached, solved, and done.
