WANTED: Assistant(s) for the LPWI Treasury

By Tim Krenz, Acting Chair, LPWI

December 17, 2024

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) has need of one or more Assistant(s) to the Treasurer position(s). As one can figure, the position of Treasurer of the LPWI consumes a lot of time and energy, and requires some \ knowledge of standard accounting and even expertise with State of Wisconsin and United States Government (USG) campaign finance procedures and laws.

Normally a position elected at our annual Membership Convention, we now have an awesome Treasurer in the person of Mr. Brian Bell. Due to having an open position in the Treasurer role in late 2023, Brian came to the LPWI as a volunteer to fill the position with excellent credentials. Brian has a deep background required for such precision work, and serves according to our Constitution and By-Laws. Brian earned a unanimous election a year ago by the Executive Committee (Excom) to fill the vacant role. (The person elected at the 2023 convention had to resign shortly thereafter for personal reasons).

Brian will continue to serve as our Party Treasurer, at least through the April 2025, and he might want to stand for re-election. While serving the Party in the most professional way possible, as a volunteer himself, Brian needs help. Due to various reasons, supporting the Treasurer has become a priority of the Excom.

The Party has a planned growth coming in all functions in 2025, including an expanded fund raising project, for which we will provide more detail at a later time this winter. With this expansion, the Treasurer will need even more help with some technical and time-consuming aspects.

Learning how to properly keep party accounts, to do detailed reporting and to file reports with the proper authorities, and to manage the budgets and planning for a political organization has a great benefit for every interested Party member. The skills and knowledge one can learn from a professional such as Brian Bell will make many more Party members capable and resourceful activists later—either to become the LPWI Treasurer in their own right, or as an affiliate or campaign treasure/financial manager, or for other non-profit political organizations.

If anyone desires to learn under Brian, to sharpen and enhance their proficiency with political and campaign finance procedures and expertise, please contact us, [email protected] . Please, also prepare to send your qualifications, c.v., and a cover letter for application for this very useful and important opportunity—to learn political campaign financial management from an expert!
